Homayoun Shajarian's 30
video mapping on the white palace
video mapping on the white palace
Over a hundred minutes of 3D video mapping content for the concert/theater project “30”. Projected onto the White Palace of Sa’dabad Complex together with live music and performance.
“30” was a collaborative project between musician Sohrab Pournazeri, singer Homayoun Shajarian and director Asghar Dashti. The show told the story of the Persian mythological character Zaal, reinterpreted by the theater writer Naghmeh Samini. The show was to be performed outdoors and in front of the White Palace of Sa’dabad Complex, a perfect setting for a building projection mapping work. The creators of the show approached and commissioned CODON to create appropriate content for the video mapping section of the show, performed by our long time friend and collaborator Frederick Rodrigues.
Aside from the video mapping content, CODON also took the role of art direction for the visual aspects of the show. Starting by making the concept design and storyboards for each scene, we then moved to the production phase of the project. By 3D scanning the building and simulating the projections locations, we could deliver pixel perfect video content that would fit the canvas easily. Although the timing was tight, by leveraging GPU Rendering solutions we succeeded in delivering the final renders in lossless 4K.
